Abstract

Data Management involves multiple processes, methodologies, and consistency in order to ensure that your research data remains organized, refine, and ready for publication. One key aspect of data management involves "Data Validation". Data validation involves taking proactive measures to maintain organization of your research data during your research project. This involves accurate data entry, evaluation for misspellings, errors, duplicate information, security, and consistency. It can occur through all the phases of the data management lifecycle, but is most important during the collection phase, as well as the preservation phase as well. This presentation offers an introduction to what data validation is, and also discusses the practices you can incorporate to make sure your data maintains accuracy both during and after your research project.
