"The modern plant of the San Patricio Canning Company. This building 40 by 30 foot houses the most modern shrimp canning plant of the Gulf Coast. It will employ from 200 to 300 persons in the plant and between 30 and 25 fishing boats will be in constant operation. When the photo was made the plant had just been completed. The channel shown in the foreground was excavated by the Port Isabel Company and is 12 feet deep and 90 feet wide on the bottom. It is a commercial channel for boats coming in from the bay and is served by lines of the Rio Grande Railway."
