The Visual Border Studies Collection includes media from local photographers, popular media, and other materials that represent the culture, ecology, and social dynamics of South Texas. It includes photographs and videos of farmers markets, organic farming, and the culture of food in South Texas by Dr. Miguel Diaz-Barriga, Professor of Anthropology, University of Richmond (VA). Exhibit materials from Rey Leal (photographer) and Ashley Leal (anthropologist), who collaborated with BSA for an exhibit entitled, “Success: Rio Grande Valley Veterans” in 2012 are included in the collection. The collection also contains video clips and interviews reflecting on Gloria Anzaldúa's influence.

The collection is open for research and born-digital collection materials are available online.
