Abstract

The thoughts, ideas, beliefs and values of the Upper Paleo-lithic inhabitants, unfortunately for us, did not persist in material supports and did not remain in the records to which we currently have access; It is therefore a delicate task to understand its meaning. However, prehistoric art is one of the few concrete legacies where our ancestors left traces of their behavior, allowing a glimpse into their ideological system. The painted and sculpted images remind us of the enigmas of an ancient world. The images reproduced on cave walls or stone sculptures have been a constant target of disputes and controversies, regarding their interpretation and origin, making them a mysterious and still invincible challenge.

The thoughts, ideas, beliefs and values of the inhabitants of the Upper Paleolithic, for our misfortune, do not last in the material supports and will not remain in the records to which we currently have access; It is therefore a delicate task to understand its meaning. In short, pre-historical art is one of two concrete legacies where our ancestors left traces of two of their behaviours, allowing a glimpse into their ideological system. Thus painted and sculpted images remind us of the enigmas of an ancient world. The images reproduced on the walls of caves or the sculptures in stone have been a constant source of disputes and controversies, not that it concerns their interpretation and origin, taking on a mysterious and invincible challenge.
