Abstract

The article offers brief profile of Professor David Montejano who became the first Latino to receive Frederick Jackson Turner Award of the Organization of American Historians in 1988. Topics discussed include his education from Central Catholic High School and enrolled at Texas State University, his learning occurred outside the classroom because of the broad diversity in the Northeast population and his books such as "Quixote Soldiers: A Local History of the Chicano Movement, 1966-1981."
