The collection consists of artifacts discovered by Manuel Hinojosa in the Lower Rio Grande Valley and Northern Mexico pertaining to the Mexican-American War. Sponsored by Texas State Library, Train to Share, UTB/TSC, and Manuel Hinojosa.

    File 1: Back of the buckle, erosion can be seen.

    File 2: Front of the buckle, the letters A, W, and V on the front along with the number 29. The letter V has some discoloration.

  • Confederate Waist Belt Plate “Palo Alto Lion’s Head”

    Confederate Waist Belt Plate “Palo Alto Lion’s Head”

    A round disc with a raised lion’s head. The reverse side is flat, except for an ovoid at the center of disc. Belt loop is to the right with applied s-link connector on the left. Traditional Hussar waist belt plate; a style used by officers and elite troop of Napoleonic and adopted by English. This item was found behind the Mexican Army battle line.
