Abstract
Approximately, 35 million people are struggling with drug use disorders (World Health Organization, 2022). Past studies concluded that there is a link between substance abuse and emotion dysregulation. The regulation of emotion can be monitored with fMRI. 64 studies were identified through database searches. 9 of those studies were selected for final review. The analyzed studies overlapped with many commonalities with the results. However, there were also some differences in designs that may be responsible for variation in the results.
