Abstract

El destacado uso de las rayas en Peri Rossi puede interpretarse como un rasgo que conecta su poesía con la de Emily Dickinson, aunadas ambas en la empresa común de tratar de superar los límites sociales de sus respectivos exilios e identidades sexuales (solo aparentemente distantes) y del lenguaje del que está hecho el poema. Las rayas actúan como dislocación, como locus del erotismo, y como disidencia de la lectura oficial. Son una exploración de la otredad, en la búsqueda de formas de expresión que superen imposiciones geográficas, sociales y lingüísticas. Se estudiarán en relación con la lítote, y en su calidad de mecanismo para plantear alteridades, identidades y epistemologías disidentes en dos modalidades muy distintas, pero convergentes, de exilio.

The remarkable use of m-dashes in Peri Rossi’s poetry can be seen as a trait that connects her production with Emily Dickinson’s, as in a joint attempt to breach social limits within their respective exiles and sexual identities (distant in appearance only), as well as that of the very linguistic matter of the poem. M-dashes generate a disjoint, and offer a locus for eroticism and for dissident readings. They explore alterity in seeking for forms of expression that overcome geographic, social and linguistic impositions. They will be studied in relationship with litotes, based on their ability as a mechanism to propose alterities, identities and dissident epistemologies in two very different, albeit convergent, forms of exile.
