University Newspaper - The Collegian
The Collegian is the student newspaper at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. Published two times during the school year by the students of Brownsville Junior College. The Collegian was originally entitled "The Rolling Stone" beginning in 1926 for two years, then renamed "The Collegian" and later renamed "The Scorpion Sting". Due to a "nation-wide financial depression," this yearbook was discontinued in 1931 and replaced with the school paper/yearbook combination entitled "The Palmegian" which served both the Brownsville High School and Brownsville Junior College. In 1940 the paper was renamed "El Charro" which eventually reverted back to "The Collegian". The online version began in 2002. The final issue printed by UTB was published on April 27, 2015.
