Abstract

The cultural development of McAllen, Texas, has played an important role in the overall growth and advancement of this city. A community needs a well-rounded cultural program as well as good government, sound educational facilities, and a stable business climate. This study is an expository account of the events in the development of literature, cultural facilities, music, dance, drama, and the arts and science which perhaps have made McAllen, Texas, the leader of cultural activities in the Rio Grande Valley and Northern Mexico.
