Harvey Scandrett

AP Press photograph, dated March 18, 1948, captures the deportation of a group of Mexican people at McAllen, Texas. The image shows men, women, and children gathered near a bus as U.S. Border Patrol officers check documentation. There are also bags, boxes, and personal belongings in the foreground. The photograph captioned, "Sent back to Mexico," accompanied by an article entitled, "Mexican Workers Check with Border Patrol: They represent a gnawing problem."

Press photograph, dated September 1, 1963, shows Mexican braceros during a meal break along a dirt or kaliche road. A mountain is visible in the distance. Some workers are in line waiting to be served from a large pot, while others are seated, eating.
