Description
Alicia Longoria was born in Mission, TX on February 28, 1915. She discusses her childhood, what she knows of her parents and grandparent's lives, as well as her husband's childhood and what she knows about his grandparents who raised him. She shares how her family fed and clothed themselves, her early education, and memories of visiting her grandparents in Reynosa. She relates several stories of family lore involving cannibalism, the Mexican Revolution, her rich uncle the moneylender, and desegregating her own elementary school. Alice also briefly discusses her 30-year tenure as Postmistress in La Grulla.
