Abstract

UVB radiation disrupts epidermal cell homoeostasis by activating T-cell PTP (TC-PTP), which inhibits proliferation pathways and promotes apoptosis, thereby helping prevent skin cancer. TC-PTP also enhances epidermal differentiation, reducing cell mitotic potential. Our initial results show increased differentiation markers and apoptosis in TC-PTP-overexpressing cells, with further studies ongoing.
