School of Medicine Research Project

The UTRGV School of Medicine Research Project was a special project from the Office of the President conducted in the Summer 2024.

The UTRGV University Library staff from Special Collections & Archives and Open Scholarship assisted Dr. Juliet V. Garcia to ensure all research materials relating to establishing a Valley medical school were preserved and archived for future research access and discovery.

In addition to the recorded and transcribed interviews and supplementary materials below, archival materials, including memos and correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, and much more can be accessed via The School of Medicine - Mario E. Ramirez, M.D. Library Archives Collections. and The Board of Regents files (1953-1998) include governing documents relating to the Pan American University / The University of Texas-Pan American.
