Abstract

Se analizaron las propiedades psicométricas de la Escala de Evaluación de las Relaciones Intrafamiliares (ERI) en padres de familia que retornaron a México y que tienen hijos e hijas menores de edad nacidos en E.E.U.U., así como en padres mexicanos sin experiencia migratoria. Participaron189 padres (92 retornados y 97 sin migración). Se llevaron a cabo Análisis Factoriales Exploratorios y Confirmatorios para derivar una versión culturalmente invariante. Una vez obtenidas las evidencias de invarianza configural, métrica, escalar, estricta y estructural, se encontró mediante un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales que la unión y apoyo familiar se asocian con la sintomatología depresiva y con el apoyo social, mientras que los conflictos familiares se asocian con la sintomatología depresiva, ansiosa, y con el apoyo social. Se identificó mayor unión y apoyo en los padres retornados. La ERI es un instrumento válido y confiable para utilizar con padres mexicanos con y sin migración de retorno.

The psychometric properties of the Intrafamily Relations Evaluation Scale (ERI) were analyzed in parents who returned to Mexico and who have children who are United States citizens, as well as in parents living in Mexico with no migratory experience. A total of 189 parents participated (92 returnees and 97 without migratory experience). Exploratory and Confirmatory Factorial Analyses were performed to derive a culturally invariant version. Once we found evidence of configural, metric, strict and structural invariance, we found how union and family support were associated with depressive symptoms and social support, while family conflicts were associated with depressive and anxious symptoms as well as social support. Greater unity and support were identified in the returned parents. The ERI is a valid and reliable instrument to use with Mexican parents with and without return migration.
