Description

Dr. Heather Alexander is an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Texas at Brownsville. She is working under a grant from the National Science Foundation and studying the process of fires burning and emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and how forests recover after these fires. She is doing her research work in the summers in Siberia but the work is relevant to the Rio Grande Valley and other parts of the world with large areas of forests and plants because society must understand the consequences of climate change and the reforestation process.
