Description

Seventeen years after he started the mariachi ensemble at The University of Texas at Brownsville, Antonio Briseño will direct his farewell concert on Tuesday, April 21. Over the years, the ensemble’s travel included the Guadalajara, Mexico, Mariachi Conference, and the ensemble was invited to perform at the Texas Ball for the George W. Bush 2005 Inauguration in Washington, D.C. The students were guests of Herzen University in St. Petersburg, Russia, where they performed at several events during the White Nights festivities. Many of Briseño’s students are now music teachers and choral directors throughout the Rio Grande Valley and elsewhere in Texas.
