"I was in school down here in '51, and '52 and then they made it a four year school, so '53. I transferred to UT dental branch and I transferred some of my credits back here so I graduated in '55. (I enjoyed) just the smallest of it the old framed student union building, sitting there when you didn't have classes playing bridge. What is incredible to me is that they can find this much land that close to the old campus. " --Don Frantz ('53)

"I was lucky to have a university here - then it was Pan American College. Otherwise I would not have been able to go to school. I'm so proud of what this University has become. It's unbelievable what each president was able to accomplish. I see Dr. Nelsen everywhere. When people see the head of the University getting involved with the community that is a great role model. "Back then we had a lot of good times. When we came in it was a much smaller facility. I'm just so glad it exploded over the years and I'm glad for the Valley. What a great opportunity it is to get back on campus and see it because I've been hearing a lot about it how big it was, how's grown." --Florencio "Sonny" Paz (BS '62)
